Bum Lee is a Korean American filmmaker, animator, and illustrator. He was born in Seoul, Korea, and grew up in the United States. He received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University School of Art in 2006 and received a Fulbright Research Grant to investigate biculturalism and independent animated films in South Korea. Since 2008, he has been living and working as a freelancer in Seoul. He has collaborated on independent documentary films with local and international teams and created short leader animations for film festivals in South Korea and Japan. He has given special lectures on animation in South Korean universities and received awards for his children’s book illustrations and short films which have been screened at international film festivals.
